Sprucedale horses graze pastures year-round. In the summer they live at Sprucedale, and in the winter they live at the Lower Ranch--pasture near Lyman Lake. This is around 50 miles from Sprucedale, over the mountains and through the woods, to juniper-spotted hills of high desert country. For the Spring Horse Drive we gather the horses from the Lower Ranch and spend four days herding them to Sprucedale. This is a real-life, hands-on experience through some amazing country.
