The Temple revealed to Ezekiel Thru the Bible: Ezekiel 40-42 These following chapters speak of a temple - a new temple which does not conform to the pattern of the mobile one in the wilderness, nor of the more permanent structure built by Solomon - which is the same temple of Ezekiel’s time which lay in ruins from the attack of Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. It is also significant that this temple never was built. The question is whether it was ever in God’s design or desire to see this temple physically realized in the first place or if it was simply intended to serve as an allegorical teaching to Israel. We know that God often makes declarations which are conditional and so it was with this revelation of the Temple. Israel was to be given the dimensions ONLY WHEN they were ashamed of all they have done! Years later when Israel was allowed to returne to Jerusalem by the decree of Cyrus the Great, less than 1/3rd of the families who left returned. This is rather a passive response. It is a proof of the heart condition of these Israelites. They had grown comfortable where they were and had come to desire other things more than the worship and honor of God. Such was NOT the necessary response for being given the details of the temple, its new laws and statutes which God required. So that temple was never constructed. The remaining question is - will God desire it to be constructed in the future? We will explore various possible answers to this as we move forward. Blessings
