Desktop as a Service (DaaS).
Oct 18 - Nov 17
What is DaaS? Daas is a service that delivers virtual apps and desktops from the cloud to any device or location and is managed by a third-party vendor. All the necessary support systems like network and storage also live in the cloud. A DaaS provider streams virtual desktops over a network to the endpoint devices belonging to the customer, where staff can access them through a web browser or a client software. DaaS is a subscription pay-as-you-go model where the customer pays the provider fees which are usually based on the number of virtual desktop services used, every month, making it easy to scale up or down depending on demand. It’s a fantastic option for reducing an initial large capital output, providing lower operating costs and greater agility and responsiveness. How does DaaS works? In a DaaS delivery model, your IT provider manages all the back-end responsibilities of security, backup, data storage and upgrades, whilst the client mainly manages his or her own virtual desktop images, applications and security, unless those services are also part of the subscription. With DaaS, access to the virtual desktop is device, location and network independent since a user’s data is copied to and from their virtual desktop during login and logoff into the cloud.
