Malachi, Last message before total silence Part 2 Thru the Bible: Malachi 2:17-3:12 This week God offers Israel a sign of Messiah's coming by describing the His forerunner who we know as John the Baptist. Both Malachi and Isaiah prophecy of him and Matthew, Mark and Luke all record Jesus as identifying John as the fulfillment of those prophecies. Also, God addresses Israel's third and final major sin - that of failing to support and give into the lives of thier spiritual leaders. This is a major problem today as well. In most churches less that 25% of regular attendees give to the support of the ministry or their ministers. God clearly tells them that the result of such action is to abide under a curse. Paul, in 1 Corinthains 9 draws a straight and cohesive line connecting the priests of the old covenant and the spiritual leaders under the new by saying, "(13) Do you not know that those who perform the temple services eat the food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the offerings of the altar? (14) In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should earn their living by the gospel.” - 1Corinthians 9:12-14. May we all have ears to hear and eyes to see. God Bless!
